Today we’ll discuss the following question: does server location matter? We have a lot of clients who are asking this question, hence we want to make this post so other clients and future clients have an answer.
Short answer: YES. Server location does matter. It all has to do with the distance between you and the server, and your clients and the server. Now, there are countries where the internet infrastructure is not as good as in Europe, especially The Netherlands where we are located. The Netherlands is in the top 3 list of the best internet connections and density in the world. This way we are able to offer very low latency to global customers.
So the most important would be that your server is located in a network where the global transit/connectivity is very broad and a great quality of premium traffic. Some lines are more expensive to use then others. This means that faster lines or better quality lines and not overbooked lines are more expensive then overbooked lines.
It is very important for you that when you order a server, that you do a speedtest first to check your latency to that server and the server latency to other locations. There are different tools for this that you can install on your server.
So server location can actually matter and make your website load faster or slower. Especially if you have a website with a lot of visitors from the other side of the globe, it would be wise to check the server connectivity first.
