We get a lot of questions from customers who want to know which hosting control panel is better. We always say that there is no “best” but only the “best for you”. We like to give our clients tailor made advice so I will give a general explenation about the control panels and the pros and cons.

DirectAdmin
DirectAdmin offers 3 access levels: Admin, Reseller, User. You can even add a fourth e-mail level supported by an official free plugin. In DirectAdmin you can add Admins (who have full access over all the users and resellers on the server). You can add resellers who only have control over their own users and user accounts. Users are basically your shared hosting accounts who only have the rights over their own website and files.

DirectAdmin is very easy to use and has a very clean interface. We use it for our Shared Hosting clients for years and we are very happy with it. Pro’s with DirectAdmin is that it does not require a lot of server resources to run and it’s easy to manage. The cons used to be that there were not a lot of site builders for DirectAdmin this has changed nowadays.

cPanel

Our web-based control panel makes site management a piece of cake. Empower your customers and offer them the ability to administer every facet of their website using simple, point-and-click software.

This is correct. cPANEL is a clean and easy to use control panel. It has more options then DirectAdmin. So, cPanel is a good choice if you are looking for a lot of options, which of some you don’t need 🙂 The biggest con is that it uses more server resources than ISPMANAGER and DirectAdmin. If you are placing cPANEL on your VPS you should make sure that you have enough free RAM on the server to run cPANEL on.

ISPmanager
ISPmanager offers a stable and easy to use hosting control panel with tons of features. We started to offer this product a year ago after having a personal meeting with team members at ISPmanager. It’s just as good as DirectAdmin and cPANEL and you get alle the same features. You can manage your websites, resellers and administrators easily through the web interface. It also does not require a lot of RAM to run just like DirectAdmin, compared to cPANEL.

DirectAdmin: 5 euro per month
ISPmanager: 4 euro per month
cPANEL: 15 euro per month
