What software do you use — yes, software is a big issue in hosting. Why? Because software like Magento needs far more resources than OpenCart for instance. So when a client has Magento we have plans with more resources available than a OpenCart plan for instance. It’s more expensive, yes, but so does your website load faster as well.

Is it profitable enough — when you have a webshop and do a ton of sales, then it’s of course very profitable to have high quality hosting and have your webshop running smoothly, but when you have 1 sale a month, your budget decreases of course. So we always are honest with the client. If it’s not profitable for the client we will not offer that client an expensive hosting plan.

Where are your buyers located? — it’s always good to ask your provider where they have their servers or if their peering is good with the country your clients are in. We have great connections with low latency over the whole globe, so with us it’s not an issue, but some providers have a less balanced bandwidth allocation, hence it would be a good question to ask to save yourself a lot of headache from clients that are complaining that your website is loading slow.
